Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is a third person shooter game developed and published by Capcom. The game has been the works of Kenji Oguro and Keiji Inafune. It's released on Xbox 360, Windows PC, and PlayStation 3. The Xbox 360 version of the Lost Planet was released on 21 December, 2006 in Japan while on 12 January, 2007 in North America. Similarly the Windows version was released on 26 June, 2007 and PlayStation 3 version came on 21 February, 2008 in Japan while on 26 February, 2008 in North America an later in Europe and Australia.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition utilized MT framework during development and is available as a both single player and multiplayer component. The main character is played by the Korean actor “Lee Byung-Hun” as a “Wayne”. Lost Planet PC version includes support for DirectX 10 when played in Windows Vista. The PlayStation 3 version was released later but included all the components of Xbox 360 and Windows and supports a maximum of 16 players in multiplayer mode. The game makes use of both vital suit piloting and on-foot exploration to support the player.

The plot for the Lost Planet is set around the Wayne, his father Gale Holden and planet EDN III. Gale Holden is killed by aliens Akrid and Wayne is lost in the snow and bitter of EDN III. EDN III was earlier conquered by Akrid by deterring humans. But now with the discovery of T-ENG (Thermal Energy) everything has changed. T-ENG is described as a powerful energy in the Lost Planet found in the Akrid only. Humans used this energy to fight Akrid using VS suits and mounted weapons.

There is a huge set of weaponry available in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. Wayne can use weapons like machine guns, rocket launchers, shot guns, robots and VS. The multiplayer version features 5 grenade types, 7 mechs and 15 varying weapons. Three multiplayer maps have also been released for the Lost Planet free of cost. Four distinct multiplayer maps would be released soon for the Lost Planet PC version soon. Similar to PlayStation 3 version, Xbox 360 version of also supports 16 players play in a single play. There will be three new characters for the Lost Planet PC version.

Limited Edition has also been released for PC and Xbox 360 that contains new maps, weapons, and human vs. akrid multiplayer mode. Lost Planet: Trag Zero a prequel version was also released that focuses on Gale, a father of Wayne. Lost Planet PC version got varied response from reviewers and fans. It got 8.5 from IGN while 79% on MetaCritic and Game Rankings. Where as Game Brink gave it 95 out of 100, 1UP gave it 6.5 only.
